Vice President, Financial Development

The Vice President of Financial Development is responsible for leading the development of taxable and tax-exempt Energy-as-a-Service(EaaS) projects from initial deal qualification by Metrus’ Sales team through financial close. This role serves as the owner of project development execution, ensuring projects are financially sound, commercially viable, and financeable, while meeting customer’s needs. The Vice President will report to the CEO, will lead Project Deal Teams, working cross-functionally with sales, technical development, finance, and legal, while having direct interface serving customers and partners (ESCOs and Design, Build, Operate, and Maintain groups).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the technical, financial, legal, and sales workstreams to advance transactions to commercial and financial close.
- Structure financeable EaaS solutions that address customers’ infrastructure, deferred maintenance, capital preservation, energy savings, and sustainability priorities.
- Drive customer decision makers, partners, and Metrus’ internal deal team to move transactions through project development stage gates.
- Own all deal-specific financing and structuring strategies, and the associated messaging, that address each customer’s unique commercial and financial objectives.
- Develop specific proposals and business cases for EaaS projects.
- Establish and own relationships with customer CFO’s and other decision makers.
- Lead cross-functional deal negotiations with customers and partners, aligning finance, legal, and technical teams to optimize commercial outcomes and mitigate risk.
- Support the Finance team in their efforts to arrange and close funding on deals.
- Build repeatable financial frameworks to improve quality and shorten EaaS project development times. Establish standards, templates, and best practices.
- Build credibility and trusted relationships across customer and partner stakeholders, serving as the expert advisor on Energy-as-a-Service financing and deal structuring.
- Partner with the Sales team throughout the sales lifecycle to communicate Metrus’ value proposition and accelerate deal progression and win business.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience leading the financial development of central utility plant, distributed heating and cooling and other energy infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated success developing and delivering long-term Energy-as-Service projects to financial close (PPA’s, ESA’s, P3s, Concession deals).
- Strong understanding of project finance, project-level contracts, financial analysis of investments, risk allocation, and Energy Savings Performance Contracting. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams that include external partner and customer stakeholders.
- Bachelor degree in finance or similar degree. Masters Degree in Business or Finance or similar degree is preferred.

Salary Range and Benefits
Salary dependent and commensurate with experience and location. $185,000 – $240,000 base salary plus incentive compensation tied to qualified opportunity creation and corporate objective attainment. Benefits can include employer paid medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long term disability insurance, stock option grants, 401k plan, commuter benefits, flexible paid time-off and paid sick leave.
