The work we do at Metrus Energy—as well as the work done by our partners and competitors—is hard, but it matters. That was true 17 years ago when I founded Metrus, and it is true today. Early on, it often felt like we were doing the right thing at the wrong time, as we explained to each new customer how Energy as a Service (EaaS) could help get projects done. This is increasingly less of an issue as both Metrus and our market have matured.
While our core mission remains the same, time is a great teacher and Metrus has grown, adapted, and innovated. Metrus’ first tag line was “Saved is earned,” which underscored that our projects were all about energy savings. Although energy savings are still key, our EaaS projects are increasingly based on alternative outcomes for our customers like delivered cooling and heating, improved indoor air quality, and other key performance indicators that are now more easily monitored and measured. Some things don’t change: the sustainable energy upgrades we finance positively impact economic growth, resiliency, job creation, health and productivity, and the financial strength of businesses, schools, and hospitals across the country.
Being in business for 17 years also means that there are now many former Metrus folks out doing all kinds of amazing work for different companies in our space, and it makes me proud. Onward and upward!
